Tolerates heavy, formal shearing better than almost any other conifer. All parts except the red aril are toxic if ingested.
Highly toxic to cats, dogs, and humans — nearly all parts except the fleshy red aril contain toxic alkaloids; seek veterinary care immediately if ingestion is suspected.
